Today marks another incredible milestone for the Herbalife brand.
We have just announced that Herbalife is the official nutrition sponsor of international footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. The contract includes global publicity rights and various joint promotional activities. Please view our official press release here: [Press Release].
Ronaldo, who plays club football for Real Madrid C.F. in Spain, is recognized as one of the best players in the world on the pitch, and a truly global sports icon off the field. Herbalife will work with Ronaldo to optimize his nutrition program and provide him with a range of sports nutrition products.
We first started speaking with Ronaldo in August of last year, and it was clear from day one that he shares our passion for great nutrition. One of the most exciting elements of our new relationship is that we will be working with Ronaldo to develop cutting edge sports nutrition products together – ones that he will proudly put his name to alongside ours. Ronaldo has already spent a lot of time with Dr. John Heiss, director, worldwide sports nutrition, talking about his personal nutrition program and his vision for our new joint products (check out the attached photo of new friends, Dr. Heiss and Ronaldo, spending time together at a recent photo shoot), and there is no doubt that we have an incredibly committed and enthusiastic Herbalife ambassador in Ronaldo.
Ronaldo’s commitment to Herbalife and the authenticity of our relationship was highlighted just last week – and is the reason we are announcing this deal today, and not at our APAC Extravaganza in Seoul on June 12th, as we had originally planned. We had a photo shoot with Ronaldo last week, after which he had to go to another appointment. Rather than change what he was wearing, he chose to wear one of the Herbalife shirts that he particularly liked from the photo shoot. The great news for us was that Ronaldo was filmed by Spanish media wearing the Herbalife shirt at that appointment, and the images quickly appeared across the media in a number of different countries. The interest that this generated meant that we had to accelerate our announcement – what a great problem to have. Not only does this demonstrate how proud Ronaldo is of his relationship with our company, but it shows what a huge star Ronaldo is and the sort of incredible exposure he will bring to our brand.
