October goes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women between the ages of 25 and 75 years. There are steps that women can take before breast cancer develops, as well as after diagnosis. Knowing your risk factors for breast cancer is crucial, however maintaining a healthy diet is also vital, both to those who do not have cancer and to those who are fighting their way back from it.
Super Food, Super Supplement: Soy
Soy is not just some hippie meat substitute for vegetarians and vegans. It is an incredibly versatile food and is available in a number of forms. Soy has been proven by countless studies to help in the prevention of breast cancer.
Soy has a number of components which work toward reducing cancer:
-
Lignins: Work to bind carcinogens (cancer causing cells) in the colon, making them go through the system faster. The faster they are removed from the body, the less damage that they cause.
-
Saponins: Phytonutrients boost immunity and fight cancer.
-
Protease inhibitors: Block the activity of enzymes that cause cancer (proteases), reducing the risk of cancer; may also suppress carcinogens.
-
Phytic acid: an antioxidant which may bind with and eliminate the heavy metals in the body that can lead to the growth of tumors.
-
Phytosterols: May help prevent colon cancer.
For a nutritious source of soy, try our core product Formula One Nutritional Shake Mix.
Ensure your doctor/oncologist is aware of any supplements you are taking and is aware of the most recent soy findings relating to breast cancer prevention, treatment and recovery. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition).

Antioxidants and Breast Cancer
Antioxidants are substances such as vitamins A, C and E and the mineral selenium which can help neutralize molecules known as free radicals. Free radicals are dangerous because they react with nearby substances and damage DNA, proteins and the membranes of cells, the National Cancer Institute notes.
One of the most dangerous aspects of free radicals is their ability to damage DNA. When DNA gets damaged, mutations in DNA may occur. By neutralizing these reactive oxygen species, antioxidants can protect against these genetic changes. Although you can get antioxidants in your diet from consuming fruits and vegetables, some also take supplements of vitamins A, C, E and selenium to lower their breast cancer risk.

You have choice of aloe concentrate, juice, or powder but it is also in our cell activator tablets.
One of the main benefits of aloe is that it enhances the absorption of vital nutrients to the body, meaning you can get more nutrients out of your food, just by drinking Aloe Vera juice prior to every meal, as well as prior to taking vitamins.
Another great benefit of Aloe is that it regulates blood sugar levels and had detoxification properties to the liver. When our liver works properly, our metabolism works fast as well.
Since Aloe is full of anti-oxidants, it will boost and enhance your immune system therefore regulating all of the processes in your body.
If you are working out on a regular basis, aloe vera juice will help your body and your joints to recover at a much higher speed, because it reduces inflammation.
Because aloe vera contains collagen, not only that feeds the cells in your skin and hair, but it is also much harder to digest, and the body uses more energy to digest it, this process causes weight loss.
Drinking aloe vera juice is like drinking a vitamin and mineral cocktail, it contains Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, Folic Acid and Niacin. Minerals in aloe vera include Calcium, Sodium, Iron, Potassium, Copper, Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium and Chromium.
Another benefit of Aloe is that it contains 19 amino acids, and 7 of them are essential amino acids ( not produced by the body).
