The diagnosis of heart disease tends to be accompanied by a rather weighty problem: obesity. It’s regarded as one of the major signs that you may develop heart disease or that your current diagnosis of heart disease may worsen substantially into conditions like congestive heart failure.

How Does Weight Contribute to Heart Disease?

In the updated 2014 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics report published by the American Heart Association (AHA), several startling factors were published pertaining to poor behaviors that led to heart disease. Poor diet and a lack of exercise were major contributors to individuals developing heart disease.

The point to understand about these two activities is that they tend to correlate with a higher-than-healthy weight. A sedentary lifestyle tends to be coupled with a poor diet, which leads to both heart disease and obesity.

Even in individuals not suffering from heart disease, the presence of obesity is considered one of the major risk factors for developing heart disease. This is because of how the two aforementioned factors tend to work hand-in-hand.

For example, an obese person may have difficulty exercising. They may find aerobic activities especially difficult, which then means that they may skip them altogether. This allows their heart to become weaker.

Obese individuals tend to consume more calories from calorie-dense foods that may have a higher amount of saturated fats or simple carbohydrates. These promote conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes and other conditions that directly contribute to heart disease.

For an individual diagnosed with heart disease, obesity can significantly worsen their prognosis. It can prevent them from reaping the benefits of exercise, receiving the nutrients their body needs to repair itself, and promoting the formation of more fat storage while muscle tissue begins to atrophy as the body cannibalizes it.

This starts a vicious cycle that makes treating heart disease even more difficult.

Obesity Contributing to Other Heart Disease Risks

Being overweight contributes to other factors that can lead to heart disease or make heart disease worse.

Obesity tends to develop in tandem with high blood pressure. This forces the heart to pump more blood, which in turn increases the incidence of blood platelets sticking to the walls of arteries and veins and increases the risk for a person to suffer heart attacks or strokes.

Another set of factors that tend to develop with obesity are known as metabolic disorders. Conditions like diabetes change how the body’s chemistry works, which in turn makes it harder for exercise to be efficient. These conditions can lead to further complications like diabetic neuropathy and a difficulty in blood flow reaching the extremities like the hands and feet.

How Can You Improve Your Heart Health Through Weight Loss?

The good news is that losing weight is one of the most effective ways to promote heart health while fighting the myriad of factors that can make your prognosis worse.

Below are three simple tips that can help you lose weight, improve your life expectancy, and reduce the number of heart-related problems that you might develop in the future.

  1. Eat Wholesome Foods

Packaged snacks and preserved foods tend to be lined with carbohydrates, simple fats and a distinct lack of fiber.

Substituting natural foods like fruits and vegetables can dramatically benefit your heart. You can switch to leaner portions of beef or chicken to further promote a healthy diet that helps your heart.

The best part is that foods that naturally have fiber tend to be metabolized slower by the body. This leaves you feeling full for a longer period after eating, which means that you are less prone to consuming more calories and gaining excess weight.

  1. Exercise Regularly

Developing an exercise routine doesn’t have to be hard. Something as simple as routinely walking around your block for half an hour every day can dramatically improve how well your heart functions.

As you exercise regularly, your body will tend to use energy stored in fat cells rather than breaking down lean muscle mass for energy. This can reduce your weight while making your cardiovascular system stronger and lowering your blood pressure.

  1. Work with Your Physician

The cause of obesity isn’t always clear. There can be extenuating factors that make it hard to lose weight. Hormone levels are a prime example of one thing that can cause an otherwise healthy person to gain excess weight.

The best way to combat these factors is to work with your physician. Be honest with him or her about your diet and exercise habits while working with your physician to develop a personalized fitness plan with any medical treatment you might need to succeed.

When you begin to lose weight, your body will function better. You may even be able to alleviate some of the damage that has been caused and reduce the symptoms of any heart disease that may already be present.

  1. Get Extra Help

Sometimes it’s hard to know what food is good or bad for you.  In some instances, you might benefit from a meal replacement shake or food like HerbaLife Shakes that combine all the nutrients, vitamins, and protein you need to keep you full and healthy. HerbaLife supplements healthy eating and regular exercise to promote weight loss, which is vital for a healthy heart.

herbalife-transformationsIn the United States and much of the northern hemisphere, September means Autumn and “back to school”. It’s also a time of new beginnings. There’s nothing better than a fresh start and a clean slate. And so it is with Herbalife. Fall is a great time to reconnect with your customers and get them back on the program. Our routines are returning to “normal” and this is a great time to take a look at your business and get started again, with Herbalife and with Herbal Nutrition.

And speaking of “new beginnings”, some of you have emailed us regarding Herbalife’s rule “Retail Websites: U.S. and Canada” which relates to online retailing, and what it means for Herbal Nutrition. There’s no doubt, September 15th will bring some changes to Herbal Nutrition, but we are confident that there’s never been a better time to use Herbal Nutrition for your Herbalife Independent Distributorship!

Retail Websites: U.S. and Canada

If you didn’t see the announcement, effective September 15th, 2014, distributors in the United States and Canada must retail exclusively through GoHerbalife. Here’s the section that will affect your Herbal Nutrition account:

Member Websites

All Members who use the Internet to sell products for delivery in the United States and Canada must do so exclusively through the GoHerbalife platform. Links or redirects from other sites are also not permitted.

In summary, if your customers are going to pay and checkout online, that needs to be done through your goHerbalife account. Online retail is now in the domain of goHerbalife exclusively for distributors in the USA and Canada. However, Herbalife still does permit you to run your own independent website. I’ll include the relevant rules at the end of this post, but the most recent Rules of Conduct (6149-US-31 Rev. 05/14) make it clear that you may do the following:

  • Advertise in Directories (Rule 6.2.9)
  • Use an independent website (Rule 7.2.1)
  • Use third party websites for advertising and promotion (Rule 7.2.4)

Therefore, your Herbal Nutrition account can easily remain compliant with Herbalife’s new retailing rule by simply disabling the online checkout ability. This will still allow you to obtain customer leads from our directory, and then follow up with the customer personally to complete the sale and complete payment. In fact, we will make this process even easier through the use of the new Herbal Nutrition invoicing tool, which will allow you to create a custom program for a new or existing customer, and then easily collect the payment for this order. Direct invoicing (similar to what is offered by Paypal and Propay) is not prohibited by the new rule, and can be an effective tool for collecting payment from your customers.

More than Retailing!

Herbal Nutrition has always been about much more than retailing. We will be working with you to bring your site into compliance with all of Herbalife’s rules by September 15th, but you’ll continue to have access to the following features:

  • The Herbal Nutrition distributor directory
  • Wellness evaluation
  • Recipes
  • Testimonials
  • Herbal Office
  • Work from Home System
  • LoseBig
  • Direct customer invoicing

Thank you for your continued use of Herbal Nutrition! We’re here to help you through this transition and will do everything we can to help you market Herbalife’s fantastic products around the world!

Mark Hall and Kevin Smith

P.S. Here are the rules in the current policy handbook which explain the value of third party services and websites, emphasis ours.

6.2.9 Telephone Directory Listings

Members may list themselves in the telephone directory under the heading “Independent Herbalife Member.”

7.2.1 Members Must Disclose Relationship with Herbalife

  • Any other website maintained by the Member to promote the Herbalife® product and opportunity.
  • Any third-party website that will assist the Member in promoting the Herbalife® products and opportunity, so long as such websites are compliant with Rule 7.2.4.

7.2.4 Third Party Advertisements on Member Websites

Herbalife Bicyclist One of the great things about running Herbal Nutrition is that we get to meet and talk with wonderful people from all over the world. About a week ago, I received an email from an Italian distributor who was trying to help one of her clients who is competing in the USA in the Trans Am Bike Race.

Here’s her original email:

Hi, my name’s Stefania P.
I’m an italian Herbalife distributor.
Sorry for my level school english.
I need a big, big, big favour.
My friend is racing in Trans Am Bike Race (the big race on the bike from coast to coast).
I cannot order them because now they are unaivailable!!
Someone have them at home ?
He’ll pass in the coming hours in this place:
and then he’ll go pass from these places:
This is his track in the race:
Someone can help me? It’s very important for him and for me.

After working with distributors on the route, we were finally able to get some products from a distributor who had the items on hand, and have them delivered to Giorgio enroute.

Since he was passing close my home, I was able to drive up and cheer for Giorgio and his friend Paolo! I also delivered box of protein bars which I had on hand!

You can track Giorgio and Paolo online as they compete in the Trans Am Bike Race!

And learn more about their adventures on Facebook! Go Giorgio and Paolo!

Meal replacements are getting more and more popular and readily available. These meals used to be targeted for body builders and other athletes, but have gone mainstream because of the huge variety of health benefits it provides.

Many people preferred these meals since their fast-paced lifestyle meant no time to prepare otherwise healthy meals for themselves. To make things better, meal replacements provide just as much nutrients, if not more, as a healthy dietary meal. A good example would be Herbalife’s Formula 1 shake, as it provides a good combination of nutrients such as: Vitamins A and C, Protein, Fibre, Calcium, and Iron.

Today, there are many different kinds of bars and shakes that provide different amounts of nutrients. Among the most popular ones are used for weight loss, weight gain, or for strength and endurance.

Things to consider when choosing meal replacements

These bars and shakes don’t come with instant results, as it takes a lot of discipline and balance (with traditional dietary methods) to get what you want. There are times when consumption of such products has virtually no effect to the end user. This may be because of certain reasons such as cheating your diet, taking the wrong bars or shakes, or simply because you’ve fallen prey to savvy marketing.

Sadly, some supplemental products out there are nothing more than dignified candy bars and sugar-loaded drinks. It pays to be careful when choosing meal replacements since your health and your hard-earned cash is at stake. Do so by following these simple tips:

1. Check the ingredients

This is already a giveaway but it’s often overlooked. One of the best ways to make an informed choice is to read the list of ingredients found at the back of the package. That’s because you can get to know what your food replacement is made of.

The beauty of using meal replacements is that your nutrient intake is already fixed, saving you the hassle of calculating them for yourself. Among the contents of the bars and shakes you’re going to consume should be:

  • A third of daily vitamins and minerals (calcium, vitamin B, etc.) per serving
  • 10-15 grams of protein per serving
  • 3-5 grams of fiber per serving
  • Less than 5 grams of fat per serving
  • 220-230 calories per serving

This is the ideal contents of a meal replacement, since it gives you a balanced amount of complex carbohydrates, simple sugars, fat, and protein. This allows you to do your normal functions, while keeping weight levels in check. There are tons of online sources which you can access if you want to know more about a certain nutrient and what it does to the body. You can Google them and know which fits your body’s needs best.

2. Look for trusted brands

Although it’s nice to try new products out, nothing is safer than opting for the established brands. They’ve reached that status for a reason, and that’s because they’ve delivered on their promises for years. Opt for popular brands in the market to make sure that you’re getting your money’s worth.

3. Get recommendations

Uncompensated endorsement from your peers and other people is always good advice since they’re giving it to help you and not to sell something. You probably have health conscious friends in your social circle who have used health products before. You could ask them what works and what doesn’t.

If none of your peers use such products, you could always go online and get information about different products in several communities. There’s bound to be a Facebook group or a forum that hosts discussion about your health concerns.

4. Opt for good taste

Do you know why people break their diets for sugary and greasy food? That’s because they taste great. Almost everyone will agree that eating is one of the most fun things to do. Nothing beats that sensation in your mouth when you’re chewing or drinking something really good. This requires those bars and shakes to have exceptional taste since it’s just hard to force yourself to eat something you don’t like, even for the sake of getting fit. Also, forcing yourself to eat and drink unappetizing food will make you chronically crave for junk food, which in turn would have a lot of bad effects on your body.

There are meal replacements available in delicious flavors like Dolce De Leche, Vanilla, Banana, and others. Just make sure that they don’t have any unwanted sugars like Acesfulfame K to keep your calorie count in check.

When given the choice between fries and a tall soda or a bag of sliced apples, most of us wouldn’t hesitate to take the deep fried and sugary treats over nature’s desserts. If we could take the elevator a couple of floors up a building, we’d pass on the stairs. And staying at home to watch the basketball game seems like the preferred option for many instead of actually hitting the court to shoot some hoops.

Big brand marketing for fast food and the conveniences of technology make healthy living a tough sell for anybody. The faddish comings and goings of miracle diets that have been applied and discarded even faster by the “get fit quick” crowd have only made the rest even more skittish about buying into the lifestyle that they’ve been led to believe is just too much work for too little results.

So what’s an entrepreneur who thrives on selling the healthy lifestyle in this high-fat, high-carb, high-tech, low-effort world to do?

Forget the Hard Sell

The quickest way to get your audience to ignore you is to try and force your message onto their long-held worldviews. People, especially adults (who probably make up your entire target market), do not like being told what they believe is wrong, and that they are better off living following a totally different view on life.

The only time that approach works is when the people are already willing to listen (which I hope is the case with you, dear reader).

Don’t bother rattling off a list of repercussions for unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise. They don’t want to hear it, and chances are, they already have a general idea that they will one day have to face the consequences. However, the future is always so far away in most people’s heads that it never really is an issue until it comes, so it’s easy to think it’s better to enjoy all the cheeseburgers and the milkshakes today than think of the diabetes or the clogged arteries tomorrow.

The alternative of preaching the benefits of a healthy lifestyle isn’t exactly the best way either. At least, not in the method of solely talking about improved cardiovascular performance through exercise or enhanced memory through proper dieting. These benefits should always be tied with what the person you are selling to is already hoping to achieve.

Appeal to Emotion

Like any successful consumer product (not basic needs), it’s not always about the features or the price that make people continuously patronize the business selling it. It’s the story that’s communicated in the marketing that entices consumers into trying it out, and the consistent messaging of that story that keeps them buying.

Apple’s branding allowed it to connect with the young urban professional crowd that believes in the importance of aesthetics and simplicity, establishing that base before branching out to a more mainstream audience that adopted it and has now made the brand ubiquitous.

For the healthy lifestyle, there are multiple bases you can touch upon to build an honest connection with.

The promise of a longer life to be able to play with one’s grandkids is a suitable angle to approach from when dealing with middle aged persons. The joy of having an active relationship with their grandchildren is an emotional goal worth striving for a lot of people, so it’s a relatively easy touchstone to aim for.

Not on a Diet! For young men and women, you can present the argument for losing weight to boost confidence in their social encounters. The longing to better their chances at connecting with their peers is the ultimate goal, not exactly the relief in their joints from carrying the extra weight or the stronger immune system.

Another possible perspective to explore is tapping into the more adventurous or goal-oriented crowd. The cleaner diet and the more disciplined exercise routines helps these people break free of whatever physical or mental limits that are holding them back.

Whether it’s appealing to the young or the old or the go-getters in life, the key thing to remember is that you need to tailor the story that falls in line with your audience’s vision. In the case of the healthy lifestyle, it’s nourishing them with fitter minds and bodies that let them do more and further their human relationships.

Herbalife Fit CampGetting in shape is primarily a combination of two factors: a good diet and regular exercise. We all know that Herbalife products are a great way to help you meet your goal, but your regime will be much more effective if you keep yourself healthy with vigorous exercise on the regular.

But what’s that? Don’t want to go to the gym, where prying eyes are everywhere, judging your copious rolls of fat? No problem, just invest the thousands of dollars into fitness equipment and make your own personal gym in the comfort of your own ho- no? Your money’s all tied up in real estate and venture capital? No problem, Daddy or Mommy Warbucks! You can get a decent workout with little to no extra items needed.
Never think that just because you don’t have the time or money to go to the gym that you can take your physical fitness for granted. Let’s take a look at some of the best ways you can get exercise at home.

Bodyweight Workouts

If you don’t have equipment, your body is the best way for you to do some strength training. The workouts that were taught to you in gym class still apply to your adult life-jumping jacks, crunches, pushups, pullups, squats, and lunges. Don’t worry about losing weight and the bodyweight you can work with-you can always up the difficulty by, say, upgrading your pushups to the more punishing diamond kind, or the one-armed kind, or increasing the incline, or a combination of previous methods.

This doesn’t apply to just the pushup- you can do bicycle crunches when the regular crunch doesn’t cut it, jump squats if squats become too easy, and jump lunges when you can do a lunge in your sleep. Websites such as Women’s Health have plenty of resources for devising and implementing a bodyweight workout plan.

Wii Fit Plus and Wii Fit U

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it- Nintendo’s fitness software has sold over 23 million copies worldwide, and for good reason-it works. Coupled with an iron fortitude and the included Balance Board, Wii Fit and its expansions bring you an interactive personal trainer, gamifying those home workout tapes in a way that has never been more effective. It doesn’t hurt that the Balance Board, which can judge your center of gravity and weight, is far more accurate than a common household scale.

Try each exercise out, see which is best for you, and develop your own regular exercise routine. Alternately, you can use one of the included regimens, focusing on strength, aerobics, or other points for improvement. And let’s face it, you or one of your family members probably has a Wii and a Balance Board gathering dust somewhere, but if not, the barrier for entry will be less than 200 dollars, if you know where to look.
Plus, if you’ve jumped onto that next-generational hype train, Wii Fit U has been even more improved, allowing you to transfer your data from Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus and continue your exercises in glorious HD. Exercises have been fine-tuned, making this software more effective than before.

Attaining the state of mind that comes with yoga is pretty hard after you’ve driven to the studio, found a place to lay your mat, and are looking at the sweaty behind of the person in front of you. That’s why we recommend doing yoga at home, by yourself, in the stillness and quiet of your own personal space.

Take a few classes, watch some videos online to get yourself familiar with the poses, memorize them, and spend every morning (or evening) saluting the sun. Yoga is a great way to relax, calm your mind, and perhaps cool down from a more intensive workout. All you need is a mat and a can-do attitude.

By the way, we don’t have a deal to promote Nintendo or anything, but there are yoga and Pilates exercises included in Wii Fit as well.

Walking, Running, Biking

This last item isn’t strictly limited to your home (although treadmills and stationary bikes are relatively cheap), but are some of the most effective ways to get a good cardiovascular workout. If you live in a decent neighborhood with good roads, some sloping hills, with relatively little traffic, you can plan your route.

Walk, run, and cycle along it first thing in the morning, or at night, and burn those calories. Brisk walking at around three miles per hour burns 360 calories, running six miles per hour burns around 828 calories, and cycling twelve miles per hour burns around 639 calories.

Never think that just because you don’t have the time or money to go to the gym that you can take your physical fitness for granted. These are just some examples of ways to get fit at home. Coupled with the healthiest offerings from Herbalife, you’ll be on your way to a new you in no time.

Success! As online businesses keep up with the pace of technology’s rise, the number of entrepreneurs who want to try their luck in the trade is also increasing. One of the most common business models is network marketing, a system where members are compensated not just for the products they are able to sell, they also receive a percentage for the sales made by the people they were able to recruit. These days, network marketing, also known as multi-level-marketing, has crossed the border between traditional methods of selling and the online business scene.

As the interest of more startup business owners are piqued, the buzz about network marketing is also growing. However, not everyone has a clue how to really begin, much less do it. So what’s a budding entrepreneur got to do? Besides believing in yourself and in your product, here are other five things you can do that successful multilevel marketers swear by:

1. Set clear objectives and goals

If you are one of those who believe that you were born to sell, being enthusiastic about multilevel marketing wouldn’t be a problem. But sometimes, people can be a little too excited to begin that they want to start at every possible angle. When it’s time to get down to business, it can help if you curb your enthusiasm a bit and focus on setting your objectives and goals as you board the network marketing ship.

Make a list of the things that you want to accomplish through your business and identify whether they are short-term, mid-term, or long-term goals. Your goal may be to buy your dream car, go on that luxurious cruise, or save enough money to send your kids to college. Whatever it is, lay them down and devise means on how you can achieve these things. You can also break down your goals into smaller achievements and treat them as stepping stones to reaching your bigger goals. A list will also help you keep track of your progress and help you determine how close you are to realizing one goal after another.

2. Find a mentor

While there is nothing wrong with being self-taught, finding a mentor who can show you the ropes and guide your ascent to business success wouldn’t hurt. Ideally, you should train under those who already have a wealth of experience not just in multilevel marketing, but also in selling your product. They can teach you techniques that you can use when you finally hit the salt mines, and they can warn you about pitfalls and setbacks that you might encounter in the field.

3. Put up a website

Not all multilevel marketing firms come with a free website that you can use to promote yourself and the brand. This is one perk that Herbal Nutrition gives its distributors upon signing up. Use your website to give your brand exposure and to communicate with your target audience. You can also fill it with different types of content to make your site more interactive. Apart from articles and blogs, you can also upload photos, videos, and infographics about your business and your brand. To make your online presence stronger, you can also engage your target audience through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

4. Expand your network

One of the tenets of promoting and selling online is to build and expand your network as much as you can, and the same principle can be applied to multilevel marketing. In addition, the point of MLM is not just to make the brand prosper, as its bigger goal is to help succeed in the business. While people might find your product and its benefits appealing, they would be more interested in how it can help them improve their lives on a long-term basis. So whenever opportunity presents itself, make friends with people in your community or in events relevant to your business.

5. Sell the idea, not just the product

The scope of multilevel marketing is broadening at a quick pace so it shouldn’t be a surprise that your target audience have had its share of multilevel marketers’ speech. This presents the possibility that they might not be so keen on listening to you but you have to know that there is a way around it. Instead of convincing them to try your product, sell them the idea or philosophy behind it. Take Herbalife, for instance. While its products are known worldwide for their effectiveness, distributors bank on the ideology that these items can help the consumers improve their wellbeing while earning a decent living at the same time.

If you, too, have tips on how startup multilevel marketers can succeed at their endeavor, feel free to share it with us in the comments box.

Formula 1 RecipesThe 21st century requires an active lifestyle. You need to do everything these days-focusing on your career, your social life, self-improvement, your physical fitness, skill development-and putting it all together presents a considerable challenge.

With all the tasks that have to be finished in your busy schedule, integrating Herbalife shakes into your day can be an effective way to streamline your time management. Each shake is the equivalent of a set meal, ensuring that you don’t have to slow down to get the nutrition you need.

Herbalife’s trademark shake, Formula 1, is an ideal meal substitute. It contains 21 essential vitamins and minerals, as well as protein and fiber, keeping your body clean and healthy, able to keep performing at the optimal levels that you demand.
That said, drinking a shake for a meal all day every day is bound to get old quick. Not to worry-we’re here to help. Let’s take a look at some of the best ways to spice up Herbalife’s Formula 1.

1. Try a different flavor

The first suggestion is also the most simple. Formula 1 comes in 11 different flavors, already introducing variety to your daily shakes. Love vanilla, as a true connoisseur of flavor should? Herbalife offers three different kinds- French Vanilla, for those who prefer a fuller, more floral taste; Vanilla (Allergen-Free), for the more sensitive types; and Kosher Vanilla, for the most sensitive types.

Chocolate lovers can choose from Dutch Chocolate for that rich flavor, or if you want to chill, the soothing blend of Mint Chocolate calms the nerves and clears the mind. You can also try Café Latte for the same energy kick-and flavor-without the crippling caffeine addiction. And best of all, after getting caught in the rain, you can kick back and relax with a Piña Colada shake, if you like.

2. Make ice cream

Ice cream is truly a gift from the gods, but by their name, it isn’t good for you. Because the Formula 1 flavors are so diverse, they can be used for practically any flavor of the frozen treat. A good standby is the classic Cookies and Cream.

Take two heaping scoops of Cookies and Cream Formula 1, mix it with 250 milliliters of soy milk, then stick it in the freezer for 10 minutes. If you close your eyes and expand your palate, it’ll taste as good-and make you feel as good-as real ice cream does. Try mixing different flavors together with different types of milk and find the right taste for you.

3. Bake pastries

You don’t have to drink Herbalife shakes. They’re in powder form, which means you can mix them into things and see where it goes.

Put it in a bowl with the right ingredients, pop it in the oven, and you might find that you can enjoy delicious baked treats every single day. Take 3/4 cup of vanilla Formula 1 as your base, ½ cups canola oil, 1 ½ cups self-raising flour, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ skim milk, 1 cup rolled oats, 2 ripe bananas, 2 beaten eggs, and sweetener equal to ½ sugar.

After preheating your oven to 180 °C, mix the milk, oats, bananas, and eggs in one bowl. Sift the flour and add the baking powder, Formula 1, and sweetener in another bowl. Put the two bowls together, making sure not to overmix, and place them in a muffin tin. Bake them for around 26 minutes, and voila, muffins for lunch.
Don’t have an oven, or these recipes seem too time-consuming for you? Adapt them into pancakes! Everybody loves a good fat stack of pancakes with honey and margarine (or if you want to indulge, butter).

These are just a few ways to make your Herbalife shake meals something to look forward to every time you eat them. Don’t be afraid to experiment with other recipes, like smoothies, bars, cakes, puddings, and pies. You won’t know how versatile the powder can be until you try. Happy eating!

Do what your Herbalife coach told you! So you’re new to Herbalife! Welcome! After hearing every convincing speech a distributor gave you, you’re now ready to test the waters on your own. You’re excited to learn the ropes, meet new people, and of course, earn the income promised by hard work. However, you probably encountered a few bumps on the road you chose to tread on your network marketing journey. This is to be expected as there have been a number of misconceptions about this industry brought about by people who employed practices frowned upon by legitimate companies.

In one of our previous blog posts, we published an article sharing tips for first-time multilevel marketers. And while newbies have so much to look forward to in MLM, this business model also comes with challenges. The good news is there are ways to hurdle them, provided that the company you joined is legitimate and that you believe in its philosophy and products. If you’re in Herbalife, don’t worry, you’ve already picked the best company around! In this article, we have included challenges commonly faced by rookies plus tips on overcoming them.

1. Inexperience

It’s easy to feel intimidated by the mere fact that you barely know anything about the field you’re just getting into, but if you think about it, every network marketer started exactly where you are-at the beginning. While there are people who can sell practically anything as if it’s their primary calling, they also had to hone their skills through experience and a series of trial-and-errors.

It is a common practice among proper network marketing firms to provide lessons and training to their new members. But if you want a more stringent way of learning, you can befriend a veteran or skilled member and ask if he or she can serve as your mentor. If your company allows for it, you can also ask your mentor if you could shadow him or her while at work and observe the ways they talk to people and persuade them to either join or buy a product.

2. Finding Prospects

Lead generation is one of the most important aspects of Herbalife because this is how you find people to sell products to. However, not all companies are able to furnish their members a system of finding prospects. One advantage Herbal Nutrition offers is getting a website upon signing up as a member, which is a potent tool in attracting leads. Assuming that you fill your site with relevant information and regular updates about your product, you’ll then be one step ahead of other multilevel marketers.

Another frowned upon practice by some multilevel marketers is by inviting people to have lunch or coffee without telling them the purpose behind the meeting. This may have worked for some, but more people are repelled by this method. If you must invite prospects to a personal meeting, muster the courage to tell them the truth. Prospects are more likely to appreciate your confidence on your product and yourself instead of lying to them blatantly.

3. Sticking to Standard MLM Techniques

Traditional techniques aren’t there for nothing. If, for anything, the reason why they’re considered standard is because they worked for members who have been with the company for a while. On the other hand, this shouldn’t mean that you can’t come up with ideas that can advance your MLM skills. Sometimes, no matter how good customary techniques are, there is still a possibility that it won’t work for everyone, which means that you have to exhaust other options to build your network. Think of Google Places as your yellow pages. They are listings on the Internet that make businesses visible online via marking them on Google Maps and giving out information about that company. Signing up for it basically gives you a large ad that allows end users to know about your distributorship’s existence via your profile. The best part of it is that it is absolutely free.

The perks of using Google Places

With all the conveniences available online, it’s quite common for people nowadays to turn to the Internet for their shopping needs. Claiming your Google Places profile will make your Herbalife distributorship available through Google Web Search, Google Maps, mobile search, 1-800-GOOG-411 voice directory search, Google Earth, and Google+. In short, this is more exposure for you via local search.

When a person does a search for Herbalife or its products using Google, your listing in Google Places will be among the top results granted that your physical store or office is near the location of the one doing the search.

Take, for instance, the image above. On the upper right side, above the ads, will appear a map that pinpoints the location of a Herbalife distributor in Wichita, KS upon typing the brand name as a query.

If you scroll down a little, it will show other distributors who have signed up for the Google Places service. Their website and address are also shown, thereby helping you generate leads via web traffic and in-store visits.

Through the course of checking out Google Places, you might notice that there are existing information about your Herbalife distributors, prior to you signing up for the services. This is because Google gathers its data from different sources, including your listing on HNN. However, end users might be given inaccurate or outdated information, as some sources might not be current. By claiming it as your own, you get to ensure that you put in all the right info.

You may also maximize your presence by adding content such as pictures of your product or store, and by encouraging past customers and colleagues to leave comments and reviews. Aside from making it more captivating, it makes your distributorship more credible because of the social interactions and third party endorsements.
